Features and Applications for Mobile Devices

Different mobile phone devices have different features. The most basic features for mobile devices are those of connection and communication. Mobile devices offer services like communication and internet connectivity. There are various types of mobile devices; in a broad sense the most common are PDA Phones, touch phones and cell phones.
All these mobile devices have a basic feature and that is communication. It is the fundamental feature that makes a phone what it is. Communication through these services can be either through call features or through text messages. These services are offered by service networks in a region or area. Service is spread by network masts which are strategically placed to reach the maximum number of network subscribers. A mobile device works by sending and receiving information with a network mast and it is in constant communication with such network mast. A mast is positioned such that it offers 360 degree communication constantly. The further away one is from a tower, the lower the signals will be. When one person calls another on a mobile device, the mast sends signals to the receiver’s device. When the receiver has answered, there is a connection between the caller and receiver. The mast sends and receives signals at high speeds to keep the two connected.
Another feature of mobile devices is data communication. Data communication is sending and receiving of internet data to an internet enabled device. Today mobile devices are used to transfer large amounts of data, including videos and pictures. This service feature is mostly available in high end mobile phone devices and touch and smart phones. The service is optimized for smart phones by the service providers to facilitate faster and easier communication. The speed for data connections depends on the service provider. The fastest speed is on a 3G network with speeds of up to 100mbps which can support mobile TV.
Entertainment features. Basic mobile phones offer basic entertainment features. The most basic features include java games, music players and cameras. Highs end phones, touch phones and smart phones offer these services plus many more. These high end phones have many applications and provide capacity to add much more. Some of the basic entertainment features are:
Connection to social sites
The internet is a big sensation among young and old alike. The most prominent feature of the internet is the social sites. Some phones have applications that support these sites.
Music and video players
High end phones have the capacity to allow users to watch and stream live music via the internet. They also have high memory capacity to save movies and music to enjoy wherever they go.
Applications
Mobile applications are mostly offered on java and android applications. High end devices are able to host a lot of applications and games on either platform.
Camera
These phones are equipped with top quality cameras and flashes that ensure quality pictures even in the dark. The phones also have options for uploading pictures to social sites like Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
Other features offered by these mobile devices are data synchronization and storage. Synchronization refers to the transfer of data from one place to another while still retaining the data in the sending device. Synchronization is done by connecting a mobile device to a computer by a cable. Alternatively, this connection can be done wirelessly through Bluetooth or infrared. Synchronization helps prevent data loss. This feature is however only available in smart phones.
BPS technology is yet another feature embedded in high end phones. GPS basically means global positioning system. GPS is a technology that works by giving directions to a place based on your current location.
