BlackBerry Playbook to Give Competition to Other Tablets

Research in Motion or RIM has introduced its new BlackBerry PlayBook that has started to give good competition to the Google and Apple tablets. The PlayBook has some of the best features that are available in a Tablet PC.

The new BlackBerry PlayBook has a beautiful design. It is also one of the smallest tablets available on the market. The tablet only measures 5 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide. The tablet is just 1 cm thick, and this is what gives away the perfection of the tablet. The tablet is light in weight and so is easy to be carried around with you. There are limited numbers of external buttons that come with the tablet which contributes to the low weight of the tablet.

The TFT screen is 7 inches with a maximum resolution of 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The tablet’s display is very bright and gives sharp and vibrant images. This makes the video viewing experience even better. The touch screen is very responsive, which could be the reason for the fast processor and a very nice build up Operating System. The Tablet PC has a newly installed operating system which allows smooth navigation on the tablet. The 1 GHz processor and 1 GB Ram make the PlayBook faster. There is a separate Desktop setup on the PlayBook, which allows you to handle different applications and create shortcuts to them.

The multimedia experience is great in PlayBook. There is a 3.2 MP camera on the front for video calling and conferencing; and there is a 5 MP camera at the back, which can record HD video in 1080p. The spines on the tablet’s body accommodate a few buttons. Critics are saying that it would have been better if RIM had increased the thickness of the tablet, or had increased the size of the buttons. The power button is so small that you might need a baby finger to press it. There are three multimedia buttons as well, for volume control and pause/play. The spines also accommodate the data and multimedia ports. A Micro-USB is available to connect with the PC, as well as for charging. There is a separate charging port available too. A mini HDI port is there to allow connection to a separate display. The best thing about this HDMI support is that it allows viewing of videos in 1080p on a separate display, which many tablets miss.

All in all, the new BlackBerry PlayBook could be a better choice if you are looking for something that can give you a multimedia experience with the additional advantages of mobile phones. This new featured tablet is available in different price ranges, from $499 to $799, depending on the size of the disk space.
