The Path To Tablet Computing

Many people are caught up in the tablet craze, but have no idea how it came to be. It is important to always get a bit of the history concerning the things that we own, in order to appreciate how far the object has come. In this case, tablets are an ideal starting point. The story is a simple one which began with the invention of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell. The telephone took years to evolve and, as time went by, it kept improving up to the time wireless phones were invented. After these wireless phones, there was no further need to keep improving the same device and as technology had taken a turn and introduced further concepts of communication to be exploited, manufacturers came up with cellular phones.
To many people the cell phone came as a blessing, as having to rely on a fixed line for communication was a nightmare. However, the phones were a bit expensive initially and thus out of reach of the general population. A few years down the line the technology for producing the cellular phones became affordable and allowed the penetration of these gadgets into the market to increase. This created potential as had never been experienced with any other product. Manufacturers saw this potential and increased their efforts in making these mobile devices more user-friendly.
Among the issues that manufacturers concentrated on was making these phones more portable, as the initial product was too bulky. The designs of cellular phones improved over the years that followed, to become stylish devices. After a while, there was a high demand for the phones but, at the same time, competition was driving the market. Therefore, manufacturers came up with more advanced cellular phones which were able to do much more than the basic functions that cell phones did, like receiving and making calls, as well as text messaging. These new gadgets were able to handle multimedia and extended office applications, which became the birth of the Smartphone as we know it today.
After the smart mobile phone was invented, things could only look up for the mobile device industry. Device manufacturers started concentrating on incorporating the latest technology into their smart devices and regular cellular phones. This is how the touch phone came about. Touch screen technology is the latest in computing technology and there was a need to incorporate it into the mobile devices to enhance their functionality. The success of this technology is what has eventually led to the introduction of the tablet.
