T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8900 Smartphone Review

The T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8900 has regularly been described as the lightest and thinnest Blackberry that has been built. It has a unique and tasteful design and a smooth chrome finish that gives it a visible appeal. Its black color increases this mystery. It is the follower of the BlackBerry Curve 8320, but with great modifications that place it far removed from its bulky predecessor. It has a much higher screen resolution, which makes up for the slightly lower maximum brightness. The 480 by 360 screen is bright enough for any daylight viewing, despite the reduced maximum brightness. It comes with a full 35-key QWERTY keyboard that makes typing on the phone a lot easier.

The phone comes with the full range of features A&T BlackBerry Torch phones have. Their performance of basic cellular functions is efficient, to say the least. Users can make and receive calls over GSM networks with high voice quality and greatly reduced background noise. The speaker volume could do with some increments, but it has a powerful loudspeaker functionality that makes it ideal for making conference calls. Its text messaging feature includes predictive typing which makes typing much faster. It has an elaborate instant messaging service, the BlackBerry Messenger, one of the fastest available instant messengers available for Smartphones. The Messenger is able to send and receive messages via the BlackBerry PIN.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 serves very well as a personal secretary through its organizer that is tailored to help the user plan and store various schedules; and it also has reminders.

What may be called the shortfall of this phone is its lack of a 3G or 4G internet connection. It still works on the 2G platform, which is a lot slower. However, the handset makes up for this disadvantage with its Wi-Fi connection, which provides users with a high speed data connection. The user is also able to make calls using Wi-Fi by taking advantage of the Hotspot@Home supported through UMA. UMA also enables the users of this phone to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi calls from various VoIP accounts such as Skype to GSM calls, as one does not need to maintain a separate account for the two connections.

The entertainment experience provided here is also top quality, as the phone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo Bluetooth headsets. It has a simple but very capable media player that can open files of many types, play back videos and high audio quality. With all these and many more great functions, combined with its small size and sleek design, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is truly one of the best BlackBerrys available.
